🇰🇷 Childcare Jobs – FAQ
🧸 What are childcare jobs in Korea like?
Most childcare positions we arrange in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu are in international Kid's Cafés.
Kid's Cafés combine:
- An indoor playground
- Organized activities for children
- A café area where parents can relax
Parents can also monitor their children on video screens throughout the space.
⏱️ How long is the minimum commitment?
Minimum duration: 3 months
👶 What ages are the children?
Children are typically between 1.5 and 9 years old.
🎨 What will I do in the childcare job?
You’ll interact with children in English. Typical activities include:
- Playing with kids in the indoor playground
- Reading books
- Leading board games in small groups (3–5 children)
- Simple cooking/baking activities
- Fun science experiments
- Arts & crafts projects
- Guiding structured play and conversation in English
🗣️ Do I need to speak Korean?
Yes. Basic Korean is required.
Your Korean level should be roughly equivalent to completing our 4-week Korean language course (4 classes per week, beginner level).
You’ll work in English, but basic Korean helps with:
- Understanding parents and coworkers
- Handling daily life in Korea
- Smoother communication during training and work
📅 When are Kid’s Cafés busiest?
Kid's Cafés are especially busy on weekends, and you will be particularly needed on Saturdays and Sundays.
💰 How much does the job pay?
The jobs are paid at the Korean legal minimum wage:
- 2025: KRW 10,030 per hour
This can change if the Korean government adjusts the minimum wage in future years.
⌛ How many hours can I work per week?
On a Korean Working Holiday Visa:
- Standard rule: Up to 25 hours per week
- Exception: For Canadians, there is no weekly limit on working hours under the Working Holiday Visa rules.
🧪 Can I interview before I arrive in Korea?
Yes, in some cases.
- If you already have sufficient Korean, we can arrange online interviews before your trip.
- If you don’t yet have enough Korean, you will:
- Join our 4-week orientation and Korean language course in Daegu, and
- We will arrange interviews during the last 2 weeks of that program
Most interviews take place on-site in Korea.
You can generally expect a 2–4 week lead time between your interview and the job start date.
📍 Can I choose where I work?
You can share your preferences (for example, Seoul vs. Busan vs. Daegu), but we ask you to stay flexible:
- Not all locations are available at all times
- Final placement depends on employer needs, timing, and your Korean level
🎯 How many interviews will you arrange for me?
We organize up to 3 interviews for you.
- We prepare you for each interview (tips, expectations, practice questions).
- If you are not hired after an interview, we move on to the next one.
- If no job placement has been made after 3 interviews, you may be eligible for a refund of the “Pre-arranged, guaranteed job” extra, as long as:
- You followed our advice and preparation guidance, and
- The reason for non-employment is clearly on the employer’s side (not due to no-shows, lack of effort, etc.)
✅ What does “Pre-arranged, guaranteed job” mean?
When you book the childcare job as an extra, we will arrange ONE guaranteed childcare job for you, subject to the interview process outlined above.
If you want more than one job, here’s how to book:
If you’d like two different childcare jobs
→ Book quantity = 2 of the “Pre-arranged, guaranteed job” extra. If you’d like two or more jobs in different categories
(for example, 1 hospitality job + 1 childcare job)
→ Book the total number of jobs you want under the “Pre-arranged, guaranteed job” extra (e.g., 2 for two jobs, 3 for three jobs, etc.).
🌏 Can I combine childcare jobs with other work types?
Yes. Many participants:
- Start with childcare
- Later add a second job in a different field (such as hospitality), or vice versa
Just be sure that:
- You book the correct number of “Pre-arranged, guaranteed job” extras, and
- Your total weekly working hours still follow Korean Working Holiday Visa rules (unless you’re Canadian, where the weekly hour limit doesn’t apply).
