WORKING HOLIDAY DETAILS IN JAPAN

CANADIAN CITIZENS ONLY

This is only available for Canadian Citizens. Canadians aged 18-30 can stay for a maximum of 1 year. There are no limitations in the weekly work hours.


FARM PLACEMENTS IN JAPAN

US & CANADIAN CITIZENS

Visa-exempted on a Temporary Visitor Status

Available to US Americans and Canadians (maximum duration of stay 90 days).

  • You are not allowed to receive a salary, but you get free accommodation.

  • Meals are not included (it is self-catering), but you often receive free vegetables and fruits from the farm

  • You will need to fill out a template of a Japanese CV, which is provided by us, in English or Japanese.  

  • Duration 4-12 weeks. Full-time (40 hours/week). Note: As a farmer's work strongly depends on the weather and other environmental factors, this might mean that on some days the work can be of more than 8 hours, while on other days it might be less than 8 hours.

  • The support package includes:

    • Placement at a farm in Japan

    • Pre-departure preparation materials in an easy to use, responsive online interface

    • Pre-departure zoom group live preparation and Q&A Session (in English)

    • Meet and greet at Narita/Haneda airport or Kansai/Itami airport and transfer by public transport (shuttle bus and/or train) to the accommodation in Tokyo or Kyoto (ticket costs are included).

    • Assistance with SIM card registration if needed (SIM card costs and airtime are not included in the package)

    • Our team is available as a contact person for any general questions, assistance etc. via phone, Whatsapp, Line, email or at our offices in Tokyo and Kyoto

We recommend that you arrive on a Friday, stay 2 nights at our sharehouse in Tokyo or Kyoto (depending on where the farm is located); proceed to the farm on Sunday; and start your work on Monday.

Sharehouse costs: One night dorm 15 USD; one night twin 18 USD; one night single 30 USD (subject to availability). You can also stay longer if you wish, before you go to the farm or after your time at the farm. There are weekly rates (Friday to Friday) as well.

Travel costs from Tokyo to the farm are not included.

While in Tokyo or Kyoto, upi can take language lessons at an additional cost.


WHAT WE OFFER


Junior High or High School

You must be 15 years old before attending school in Japan to be placed in 8th grade. If you are 16, you will be placed in 9th grade and if you are 17, you will be placed in 10th grade.

Inclusions & Cost

Homestay placement with a family whose child goes to the same school and same grade is always the goal; however, that may not always be possible. International flights are not included.
