Virtual Internship Overview

Dates: June 1 – August 14, 2020

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 15-20 Hours/Week (Daily Schedule TBD)

Intern Title: Food Data Systems Intern

Intern reports to: Director

Hosted by an an agricultural community development organization, this internship will focus on food access data collection and payment system monitoring as part of a farmer training program.

Through this program, the organization sells produce on behalf of the 35 New American farmer constituents, through their Food Hub and Fresh Start Farms.

All income and expenses are tracked to ensure that farmers are being paid correctly

Intern Responsibilities


  • Collecting/importing spreadsheet data
  • Database and system management
  • Tracking income and expenses
  • Compiling mobile farm stand data


  • Experience with Google Sheets or Excel
  • Excellent oral communication, research, and writing skills
  • Background knowledge in environmental science, agriculture, business


  • Enrollment in a college degree program, majoring in a relevant field
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA (preferred)
  • Access to computer and regular phone/internet
  • English proficiency
  • An interest in the nonprofit and community development sector
  • Ability to work well independently
