Virtual Internship Overview

Dates: June 1 – August 14, 2020

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 15-20 Hours/Week (Daily Schedule TBD)

Intern Title: Environmental Research Intern

Intern reports to: Research Projects Coordinator

Hosted by a scientific research organization​, ​this internship will focus on gathering background information and searching for funding for some of the organization’s pending projects:

Microplastics in the Food Web, Assessing Airborne Microplastics, and Kelp Restoration Potential

This organization uses innovative science and global partnerships to discover the environmental threats to humans and wildlife, in order to improve the ecological health of the planet.

Intern Responsibilities


  • Reading and reporting on relevant scientific data reports
  • Researching back-ground information on study subjects Research potential funding opportunities and collaborators
  • Assist as needed with writing grants


  • Ability to read and synthesize scientific literature
  • Excellent oral communication, research, and writing skills
  • An interest in scientific communication
  • Background knowledge in environmental science


  • Enrollment in a college degree program, majoring in a relevant field
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA (preferred)
  • Access to computer and regular phone/internet
  • English proficiency
  • Ability to work well independently
