Experience: At 72 years of age, Das has dedicated his entire life to the collection and preservation of myriad folk expression of different indigenous communities of Northeast India. His selfless stride to document oral traditions has helped revitalize cultural expressions at risk of extinction. His collection of underrepresented traditional folktales of indigenous communities has been incorporated into mainstream Assamese children's literature, and he has also written the book, Bordhul, featuring the rich cultural tradition of Kamrupi Dhulia (traditional drumming of the Kamrup district). He is an ardent preserver of tangible heritage.
