Virtual Internship Overview

Dates: June 1 – August 14, 2020

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 15-20 Hours/Week (Daily Schedule TBD)

Internship Title: Database Management Intern

Intern reports to: Community Outreach Director

This host organization is a Community-based Arts and Revitalization organization whose goals include: community revitalization; conservation of farmland, forest and shore land; and support for sustainable economic development that will benefit not just today’s Mainers but our children and grandchildren.

They work with other organizations to convene discussion and take action to revitalize our communities and economies while protecting our natural resources.

This remote position entails working closely with our membership coordinator and executive director assisting in various tasks that will help the organization grow by developing a better understanding of its membership base.

Intern Responsibilities


  • Conduct an analysis of our membership database (NationBuilder), updating as needed
  • Assist in researching and classifying current membership lists
  • Prepare, administer and interpret surveys addressing perceived value of membership
  • Gain experience with NationBuilder software
  • Identify the organization’s membership strengths and weaknesses such as professions well represented or lacking in individual and business memberships
  • Attend online meetings with the Membership Committee
  • Develop a final report with findings and recommendations and share with board members


  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong internet research ability


  • Enrollment in a college degree program, majoring in a relevant field
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA (preferred)
  • Access to computer and regular phone/internet
  • English proficiency
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Team player
